Robert DeMarinis

Robert DeMarinis was Vice President of Gas Operations NY at National Grid.  He was responsible for field operations and construction associated with maintaining and growing a safe and reliable gas distribution network serving 2.3 million customers in the Company’s New York State territory. He has over 38 years of experience with the Company and its predecessor Companies in Gas Distribution, Electric Transmission & Distribution Operations, and Electric Power Generation.  He has been recognized throughout his career for outstanding community and customer service, volunteer work, and emergency response efforts.

Bob served as Corporate Chairperson for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and as a volunteer with the United Way and Junior Achievement of NY. He was a registered merit badge counselor for the Suffolk County Boy Scouts and has coached community youth flag football and lacrosse teams.

Bob retired after 30 years of service as a Captain in the U.S. Navy Reserve in 2011. In October 2004, he was awarded the US Navy Meritorious Service Medal for exceptional leadership as Executive Officer, Military Sealift Command, Northern Persian Gulf 102 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

He has a B.E. in Marine Engineering from NY Maritime College, an M.S. in Engineering Management from Stony Brook University, and an M.S. in Environmental Technology from New York Institute of Technology.

He is a graduate of the 2007 Leadership Huntington Flagship Program and a graduate of the 2008 Energeia Partnership - The Academy for Regional Stewardship at Molloy College and is currently on the Board of Advisors. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Long Island, Long Island Builders Institute, Leadership Huntington Foundation, Paul Snyder Memorial Foundation and is a member of the Volunteer Leadership Advisory Board of the NY Blood Center. In September 2017 he was recognized with a NY ICON award by the Long Island Business Community.
