Pete Mladinich

Pete Mladinich is a Utility Subject Matter Expert with 34 years of experience in Transmission and Distribution operational leadership and management. He currently serves as Manager of the Distribution System and Distributed Resource Oversight for the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA).

Mr. Mladinich monitors and reviews LIPA’s service provider’s interconnection processes ensuring clean energy technologies are deployed in accordance with New York State laws and regulations, including the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act and the Clean Energy Standard . He oversees the development of clean energy projects by the Utility of the Future team and the Utility 2.0 team.

Known for strategic implementation of savings associated with Business Cost Optimization, Mr. Mladinich has demonstrated expertise in leading organizations, labor relations, developing customer centered teams, and cultures – finding innovative ways to benefit both the customer and the company.

Applying LIPA’s corporate strategy to be Clean, Lean, and Customer-First, Mr. Mladinich is focused on improving the interconnection process through evolving technologies such as Hosting Capacity maps and the Interconnection Portal. He is also responsible for Emergency Preparedness Oversight activities including, drill oversight, field oversight of the service provider during storm and post-storm after action reviews. 

Mr. Mladinich holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from The Catholic University of America and a Certificate in Electric Distribution Systems from PTI. He is a member of Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), Power & Energy Society (PES) and Oceanic Engineering Society (OES).
