Kevin M. Harvey

Kevin Harvey was accepted into Local 25’s Apprenticeship Program in 1971 while he was in his junior year at Iona College in New Rochelle.  He accepted the offer into the program and left school to begin his apprenticeship.  His family is steeped in a long tradition of IBEW members that include his father, uncle, brothers, and cousins. Always wanting to give something back to his organization, Kevin applied to and was accepted into Local 25’s Shop Steward Program.  He strongly believes in education and decided to help Local 25’s Apprenticeship Program by becoming an instructor in the school – a position which he held for seven years.

Kevin was appointed Shop Steward on many jobs for Local 25 including Airport Plaza in Farmingdale, Nordstrom’s in Roosevelt Field and Belmont Racetrack.  In 2002 he ran for the principal officer’s position of Recording Secretary and was elected.  In 2004, Business Manager Don Fiore asked him to come on staff as Local 25’s Suffolk County Business Representative.  He served in that capacity until Brother Fiore’s retirement in December 2010 when he was unanimously selected by Local 25’s Executive Board to finish out his term.  In June of 2011, he won re-election to his position with an overwhelming vote of support.  He has since won re-election in 2014 by running for his position unopposed.

Kevin and his wife Rosemary have been married for 40 years and have lived in Smithtown for over 35 years.  Rosemary is a Consulting Dietitian.  They are the proud parents of three lovely children.  A son Ryan, who is a pilot for Delta Airlines, a daughter Erin, who works for the MTA in New York City and daughter Lauren who works in the Disability Law field.
