Merritt Environmental Consulting Corporation
This 1-story commercial office building was purchased in June 2022 by Chuck Merritt to become the new home for his company, Merritt Environmental Consulting Corporation. The building is 4,710 square feet and sits on a plot size of .41 acres. The building underwent renovations while pursuing the LEED v4 Commercial Interiors project scope. As part of the LEED project, the building was fitted with materials that are made from both pre-consumer and post-consumer recyclables from floor to ceiling. Locally sourced barnwood was reclaimed and used as a design element, prolonging its lifespan and diverting these materials from entering a landfill.
A state-of-the-art HVAC monitoring system was installed to maximize energy efficiency while reducing energy consumption. A spectacular display of biophilic design shows several plants that capture Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), a running water feature with aquatic life, and skylights that offer more natural light into the enclosure. The building is also equipped with green vehicle priority parking and two electric vehicle charging stations. USGBC issued this project a LEED Gold certification on September 27, 2023.
