LEED Performance at The Alliance Center; 1.0 hour LEED specific for O+M, the LEED Green Associate, and 1 AIA LU

Missed Greenbuild Chicago 2018? Tune in for an exclusive look at the best sessions. This session presents information and a case study on LEED v4.1 O+M.

The evolution of existing building LEED certification is at a monumental stage with the availability of performance based LEED v4.1 O+M certification. The Alliance Center in Denver, Colorado has been part of this process from the beginning. A true leader amongst leaders they transitioned into ongoing Operations and Maintenance (O+M) certification after their initial Building Design & Construction (BD+C) certification. Progressing from LEED Silver (BD+C: Commercial Interiors) to LEED Gold (O+M: Existing Buildings) they are currently LEED Platinum certified under O+M.

This session will cover the nuts and bolts the LEED v4.1 O+M Beta in addition to telling the certification story at the Alliance Center. The Alliance Center is an office building, but don’t let that fool you. This place is special, it has heart and soul. It is owned and operated by a mission-driven nonprofit that provides event and office space for like-minded that collaboratively create sustainability-focused solutions. As explorers and innovators—working at the leading edge of sustainability to support a healthy planet, a strong democracy, and a thriving economy—it just makes sense that they are among the leaders of existing building certification and LEED Performance.

Hear about an owner’s decision to leverage LEED to support their goals of reducing Colorado’s greenhouse gas emissions, increasing socially and environmentally responsible business in Colorado, and diversifying the sustainability movement. You will learn how LEED has evolved, addressing implementation challenges while harnessing the power of a data driven performance based path to certification.

1. Identify about how the LEED v4.1 O+M alternative transportation credit has changed to be a CO2e based metric, which results in the transportation performance score

2. Describe how the LEED v4.1 O+M rating system uses data to generate energy, water, waste, transportation & human experience performance scores and how these scores support meeting prerequisites with ability to earn points

3. Recognize how the LEED v4.1 O+M rating system opens the door for certification of an interiors project or partial building, also discover how a BD+C certified project can generate the LEED performance scores

4. Gain insight into the evolution of the water efficiency credits in LEED for Operations & Maintenance from prescriptive to performance
