Anthony Macagnone

Oyster Bay Town Councilman Anthony D. Macagnone was elected to the Town Board in November 1999. He initiated legislation to establish a “living wage” law, which ensures that employees of companies that perform service contracts or sub-contract for the Town earn an hourly wage adequate to meet their needs. He sponsored legislation that made the Town of Oyster Bay the first Town in Nassau County to require contractors and subcontractors doing business with the Town to have apprenticeship training programs. He also introduced a comprehensive next generation homebuyers plan, which will allow more young people the opportunity to purchase homes in the Town of Oyster Bay.

Councilman Macagnone has been a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America since 1981. Councilman Macagnone is currently the L.I. Director for the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters and an officer in Carpenters Local 290. He is also a delegate for the Nassau-Suffolk Building Trades, on the Career Advisory Council of Farmingdale, the Vice President of the Hicksville Community Council, the Town liaison for the Long Island North Shore Heritage Area (LINSHA), a Board Member of the Italian Political Action Committee and an honorary member of the Atlantic Steamer Fire Company No. 1, as well as being active in a number of civic and sports organizations serving the Farmingdale community. He is also a graduate of the inaugural class of The Energeia Partnership – The Academy for Regional Stewardship at Molloy College, a 2013 distinguished Honoree of the Lt. Det. Joseph Petrosino Association in America Inc., and a Board Member of The Josephine Foundation.
