Healthcare

The Healthcare Committee communicates, educates and facilitates the design, construction and operations of sustainable healthcare facilities. The Healthcare Committee works with architects, engineers, facilities managers, construction managers and operations personnel to create sustainable healing environments that are in keeping with the tenants of the Hippocratic Oath: To practice and prescribe to the best of my ability for the good of my patients, and to try to avoid harming them. Never to do deliberate harm to anyone for anyone else’s interest. To avoid violating the morals of my community.

Healthcare on Long Island is second to none. The goal of this committee is to help provide the highest quality and highest performing environments to complement this care. In helping to implement green building practices, we can help to create healthier environments for our patients and reduce the impact of these facilities on the environment. The Healthcare Committee also to helps providers incorporate the LEED rating systems into the practice of designing, constructing and operating healthcare facilities.

Edward R. Casper | | Co-Chair

Edward Casper has been associated with Wiedersum Associates Architects since 1998, and a Principal since 2001. A large percentage of Ed’s design and management skills have been dedicated to Wiedersum’s hospital, medical facilities, and nursing home clientele. Edward has the ability to quickly develop a conceptual design from verbal discussions and client-proposed programmatic requirements, which greatly assists in determining whether a project is feasible, as well as cost effective.
